Disney Descendants Theme Party!
Our clients are going absolutely crazy for the new show & movie Descendants. After receiving a number of requests to add a character look-a-like to our roster, we took the leap! We hosted an event for Halloween at The Fairytale Boutique this past Saturday and was a blast!!!!! “Long Live Evil”

Here at Official Princess Parties we always strive to offer our advice and expertise when it comes to party planning. Lately, our wonderful clients have been asking about tips for summer parties, so we have compiled a few below:
1) Indoor and outdoor options! A room full of 4 year olds can get crazy pretty fast, so if mother nature is on your side, plan to have some outdoor time too. Just don’t forget to have lots of sunscreen and water on hand for all of your guests!
*If you’ve invited one of our characters to perform, a shady spot will ensure no one overheats, and make for the best quality photos.
2) Scrap the birthday cake: In hot weather, nothing says birthday like an ice cream bar! Gather a few of your child’s favourite ice cream flavours and toppings, and give everyone a choice! This way everyone is happy and you can even trick your kids into eating some berries with their frozen treat 😉 If you want to maintain tradition, you can keep the birthday cake but opt for homemadefruit popsicles with sliced fruit and frozen fruit juice J
3) Watermelon! Kids tend to ADORE watermelon, but if you’ve been having trouble getting your little one to accept this fruit, try cutting it with a small cookie cutter into irresistible cute pieces! Fancy more creative ways to get your little ones to eat fruit? Try placing it on a rainbow Kabob J
4) Water activities: If you don’t have access to a pool, or sprinkler, water activities can still be easily planned. You can now buy biodegradable balloons for lots of water balloon fun, or create an easy DIY slip n’ slide with a couple garbage bags!
5) Always have a back up plan: Let’s be honest, Mother Nature seems to be acting a bit like Mother Gothel lately, and we have seen many more rainy days than we have sunny days this summer! Don’t get yourself into a tight spot by assuming the weather will be nice the day of your party. If you don’t have room inside for all of your guests, you may be better off coming up with another plan B incase Mother Nature decides not to cooperate during your party!

Each year we challenge ourselves to increase our charitable contributions to worthy causes such as the Ottawa Food Bank, The Children’s Wish Foundation, Wishes for Olivia and more! This year we are extremely pleased to be able to offer a variety of characters, a silent auction and more to help us raise money for families struggling with physical handicaps. The Easter Seals of Ontario reached out to us in requesting that they be our charity of choice for the 2015 year, and we are extremely excited to work with them to raise funds for a worthy cause.
Of course, our contributions would not be nearly as grand without the help of many fabulous local businesses. Each year we reach out to a variety of business and request that they help us with our charitable efforts. Thank you to Landmark Cinemas who hosted us on Friday the 13th for a magical evening of meet and greets, popcorn, and princess fun!
Our Official Princesses Performers, Snow White, Tink, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Beauty, Ariel, Rapunzel, Frog Princess, Anne, Snow Queen and Sophie were thrilled to have the chance to visit with our biggest fans and watch the utterly AMAZING new Cinderella movie.
Truly, the movie is a masterpiece, and the costumes are to die for! Not to mention we just loved the new Frozen short, Frozen Fever, which gave us a chance to revisit with a few of our favourite characters… Kristoff stole the show (and our hearts) yet again 😉
Here are a few of our favourite moments:
A little fan Charlie, sat with our Frog Princess for the entire movie, and made a special princess wish to our very own fairy godmother after the movie! We just LOVE to meet Frog Princess fans and can’t wait to send this special girl a surprise!!!
Following the Frozen short, at least 20 little ones yelled “Happy Birthday, Anna” making our Frozen Princess squeal with delight! 🙂 Truly, is there anything more magical than the utter zest for life that is only possessed by children under the age of 10?

Planning a Princess Party
Official Princess Parties is now officially back in the office after a wonderful holiday season. J Happy New Year everyone! The Fairy Godmothers have some big plans for 2015.
One of the questions we Fairy Godmothers get asked the most about is the timing of a princess birthday party. What’s best – morning, noon or night? Mostly, it depends on the way that you prefer to structure the party but there are some guidelines to follow.
First things, first – someone will always be late. You should always allow at least 15-30 minutes for everyone to get in and get settled before your princess arrives (or any other scheduled activities are slated to begin). It’s also a good idea to leave 15-30 minutes at the tail end of your party for the princess character to leave, the cake to be eaten, etc. before parents come to pick the kids up. Invariably, someone will be just a bit too early otherwise.
Another good tip is to be flexible. It’s a kid’s birthday. If they have to bust open the piñata by 2:05 on the nose lest they throw off the whole schedule, the schedule will be thrown off.
As far as the actual time of day, there are basically three options for younger kids. Late morning/early afternoon parties with lunch, late afternoon/early evening parties with dinner, and mid afternoon parties with no meal served at all.
A great set-up for lunch (and diner, too) is lunch, princess, cake. So for example, you could have the party from 11:30-2:00 p.m., serve lunch around noon, and have the princess arrive for 12:30. She would bring the cake out before she left at 1:30 p.m. and say goodbye while it was being served. Half an hour later, the parents would come to pick the kids up.
If you wanted to be able to skip the meal (mostly they’re too excited to eat anyway), then smack dab in the middle of the afternoon is the way to go. One o’clock is a great start time, with the princess coming around 1:30/2:00 p.m. Put out snacks and juice boxes, and do the cake when the princess leaves and you’re done.

Words cannot express how happy my girls were with Anna and Elsa visiting this weekend for their 3rd birthday party. From the moment the princesses walked into the backyard all of the kids were engaged and following their every word. The reading of the Paper Bag Princess, playing the poison apple game, getting fake tattoos,
